Amendment II had a great weekend at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show held at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy, Utah April 14th and 15th. We hosted two booths featuring our exclusive Carbon Nano RynoHide protective vests and our innovative A2 Gun Pants. Gun enthusiasts and others were impressed by the strength and flexibility of RynoHide and completely blown away by the lightweight material of our vests. Visitors could clearly tell the difference between our vests and traditional vests with hands-on comparisons between RynoHide and Kevlar-like textiles. Women at the show loved the protective vests that Amendment II designs especially for women. The A2 Gun Pants were also a huge hit. Hunters, police officers, and military personnel loved the trademark Flak Saddle and built-in tourniquets of the pants. They also loved the design of the A2 Gun Pants which are ideal for conceal carry apparel, providing comfort as well as style. The staff of Amendment II were so happy to meet and interact with so many wonderful people.

RynoHide™, the world’s first Carbon Nanotube compound for ballistic and shrapnel resistant products is now available to the personal protection equipment industry and the general public. On the cutting edge of scientific innovation, RynoHide is lighter than any other compound on the market, yet provide greater user protection from back-face deformation of projectiles. Designed to meet the needs of all military and law enforcement operations, RynoHide is also affordable for public consumers.

In 2011, Amendment II partnered with the University of Utah’s Nano Institute in order to develop the implementation of carbon nanotubes (CNT’s) into body armor applications. The result was RynoHide, an unprecedented lightweight and flexible ballistic compound.

Nanotechnology begins at the molecular level. A single carbon nanotube is 1:100,000 the thickness of a sheet of newspaper and five times stronger than steel. RynoHide harnesses the power of carbon nanotechnology in conjunction with traditional soft body armor components. RynoHide makes flexible armor stronger.

Traditional armor is designed to stop projectiles moving thousands of feet per second from penetration and back-face deformation. Back-face deformation is the bulge that occurs in the back of the armor from a projectile hitting the front without passing completely though. Traditional armor is designed to minimize these threats by using 20 to 30 layers of a high tensile strength synthetic aramid, such as Kevlar.

The acceptable back-face deformation limit for body armor, as set by the National Institute of Justice, is 44mm, or nearly two inches. RynoHide helps body armor achieve a back-face deformation level in the low 30′s, without increasing the weight of the armor.

Less back-face deformation means less hurt on the body.

“That’s a huge advantage for the user of the armor if they get hit,” says R.G. Craig, President of Amendment II. “It could be the difference between a stay in the hospital or simply going home at the end of the day to your family.” Such protection is achieved without compromise in comfort and convenience.

Amendment II is the exclusive developer of CNT enchanted protective body armor. This innovative approach to ballistic resistant compound production is accomplished through an intricate and highly technical manufacturing process. CNT’s are applied to RynoHide elements at the thread level. Nanotechnology has been used in other industries such as computer research, and telecommunications, but nothing like this has ever taken place in the protective armor field.

RynoHide has already been used successfully as a compound of lightweight armor systems, military and law enforcement uniforms, vehicle armor, and in structural applications. The potential usage that RynoHide has to offer in many more applications is extensive.

AMENDMENT II, MAKERS OF THE INNOVATIVE BALLISTIC AND SHRAPNEL RESISTANT COMPOUND RYNOHIDE ANNOUNCE YET ANOTHER EXCITING APPLICATION – SPECIALTY VEHICLE ARMORING.

Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) February 07, 2012

Amendment II is proud to announce the release of the world’s lightest, most flexible, and universal vehicle armor. AII’s revolutionary tactical armor, RynoHide™, has transformed armored vehicles. The first car to roll of the line is an amazing 2012 650hp Supercharged Camaro 2ss – completely bulletproof.

This mind-blowing car is just the beginning. Amendment II’s cutting edge and patented technology makes it possible to armor virtually any vehicle using RynoHide™, the world’s most advanced ballistic and shrapnel resistant combat material. The incorporation of RynoHide™ into any vehicle will provide protection from high velocity shrapnel and small arms fire. In addition, it is extremely lightweight and flexible. That sets this material apart from traditional armoring which can add 2,000 pounds or more to a vehicle’s weight.

RynoHide™ can adapt to work in virtually any vehicle, be it air, land, or sea. This unique, flexible, and lightweight material will fit high-end vehicles, exotic sports cars; and it will even fit a convertible!

There is no sacrifice in quality using RynoHide™ armored cars. All vehicles maintain their integrity, and high level of performance because of the nature of the material. Because RynoHide™ is lightweight, there is no additional wear and tear on the chassis of the vehicle, need to reinforce the frame, or alter the suspension. Further, the flexibility and adaptability of the fabric do not compromise the body or interior of the vehicle. It is virtually unnoticeable to the vehicle operator.

What the driver does get is peace of mind, knowing that his or her vehicle offers one of the highest levels of protection available in armored vehicles.

The power, protection, and performance of RynoHide™ is now available.

The National Institute of Justice has created a de facto standard by which all armor can be evaluated and rated as to its protective characteristics. There are 5 overall classifications, increasing in ballistic protection: IIA, II, IIIA, III, and IV. Basically, types IIA, II, and IIIA are for protection against handgun rounds, while type III and IV armors are for use against assault rifles (such as the AR-15 or AK-47), firing .308, 5.56, or 7.62, or similar rounds. At the present, a plate carrier with heavy ceramic or steel plates is required to stop these rounds. At Amendment II we are working on a version of RynoHide with the capability of stopping these faster, more powerful rounds, that we hope to have to market by the first quarter of 2013 or sooner. In the meantime, RynoHide comes in the following protection levels:

Level IIA

Type IIA armor can stop 9 mm Full Metal Jacketed Round Nose (FMJ RN) bullets with a specified mass of 8.0 g (124 gr) and a velocity of approximately 373 m/s and .40 S&W Full Metal Jacketed (FMJ) bullets with a specified mass of 11.7 g (180 gr) and a velocity of approximately 352 m/s.

Level II

Type II armor can stop 9 mm FMJ RN bullets with a specified mass of 8.0 g (124 gr) and a velocity of approximately 398 m/s and .357 Magnum Jacketed Soft Point (JSP) bullets with a specified mass of 10.2 g (158 gr) and a velocity of approximately 436 m/s.

Type IIIA armor can stop .357 SIG FMJ Flat Nose (FN) bullets with a specified mass of 8.1 g (125 gr) and a velocity of approximately 448 m/s and .44 Magnum Semi Jacketed Hollow Point (SJHP) bullets with a specified mass of 15.6 g (240 gr) and a velocity of approximately 436 m/s.

The Utah State Tax Commission has made available a contribution box for Canine Body Armor on the 2011 state tax form (Utah Code §59-10-1315)! Amendment II could effectively provide the protection needed for those brave animals that work with our outstanding police forces throughout the state. RynoHide(TM) technology has the ability to protect the K9 units with armor that is lightweight using the most protective body armor technology available. The funding for this project is important. At Amendment II, we praise the authors of this legislation and encourage law enforcement agencies to contact us for the development of K9 body armor using cutting edge technology that will not interfere with the duties of the police dogs or their officers.
Instructions for donations are as follows:

You may voluntarily contribute $1 or more to provide funds for the purchase of personal protective body covering, whether worn alone or as a complement to another product or garment, and is intended to protect a police service canine (dog) against gunfire.

Any contribution you make will add to the tax due on your return or reduce your refund. Once made, you cannot change the contribution on an amended return.

Write the code (11) and the amount of your contribution on your Utah TC-40, page 2, lines 28a through 28d. Total all contributions on line 28.

Dire statistics reporting the number of law enforcement fatalities in 2011 were released by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF). These numbers indicate that there was a 13% increase since 2010 in the number of officers who were killed in the line of duty by various agencies nationwide.

These statistics represent an alarming trend. The number of officers killed by gunfire have surpassed the former number one reason for law enforcement fatalities, traffic-related incidents. The violent trend upward is exactly what we at Amendment II want to combat. Every day men and women place their lives on the line to protect the rest of us. We want them to return home to their families each night. We want to save lives.

The upward surge in officers killed by violence in the line of duty must stop. There is technology available that will reverse the trend through the use of improved protection. We at Amendment II have the technology with RynoHide(TM), the world’s foremost frag-resistant and advanced ballistic protection body armor available. We have outdated the efficacy of the traditional bullet proof vest. Law enforcement agencies have access to the means to send their officers home safely with uniforms designed specifically for both male and female police officers here at Amendment II.

2012 is Amendment II’s year to take off! We have amazing new applications for our tactical armor, RynoHide™, a growing staff of industry specialists and experts, and we are reaching widespread markets as never before! Our goals and agenda are limitless! All of this potential has called for more space.
Amendment II is putting the finishing touches on our beautiful new office areas to meet the demands of our clients. We have expanded our office by moving downstairs. We remain at the same street address and have simply moved to a larger and more convenient location on the first floor of the same building. Our address is 3115 East Lion Lane, Suite 160, Salt Lake City, UT 84121. This move has not only made us more accessible, but it is has also increased the square footage of our headquarters in order to meet the growth of Rhynohide™ clients and our dynamic business!
